The start of a new tradition: The Successful Premiere of the MARIBOR TRAIL

On Saturday, June 13, 2026, we successfully held the premiere edition of the TRAIL MARIBOR event, adding a new and exciting challenge to the Slovenian trail running scene. At 8:00 a.m., we watched the first start of the trail runners, who set off on the longest 50 km and 30 km courses. At 11:00 a.m., the 15 km and 8 km races followed. The varied courses led through the center of Maribor, along the trails of Maribor’s Pohorje, Kalvarija, Piramida, and part of the highly anticipated Pohorje-Kozjak trail.

The weather was on our side all day long, and the sunshine provided perfect conditions and even more beautiful views of the surrounding hills and the town below.

After crossing the finish line, we enjoyed what makes trail events so special—talking about the kilometres we’d covered, sharing stories from the trail, relaxing over čevapčiči and beer, and listening to the great music played by our DJ. In such pleasant company, the gathering stretched into the evening hours, with many still in no hurry to head home.

We sincerely congratulate all participants on successfully completing the challenges. We are delighted that you were part of the first edition of Trail Maribor and that you joined us on this new journey, which we believe will become an important part of Slovenia’s trail running story in the years to come.
